Privacy Policy — Repostsy
Effective Date: August 12, 2025
Repostsy (“we”, “our”, “us”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights under applicable privacy laws.
1. Data We Collect
We do not require account registration. We may collect:
- Usage data: pages visited, interactions (for service improvement and abuse prevention).
- Technical data: browser type, device, and IP address (for security and diagnostics).
- Optional submissions: any data you voluntarily provide via contact forms or support requests.
We do not permanently store generated captions or other content you generate unless you explicitly choose to save them (future Pro feature). Local usage data used to enforce limits is stored locally in your browser (see Section 5).
2. How We Use Your Data
We use collected data to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve Repostsy.
- Monitor and prevent abuse, fraud, and security incidents.
- Respond to support requests and communicate important updates.
We do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties.
3. Legal Basis for Processing (for EU users)
For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), we process personal data on the basis of:
- Consent where requested (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR); and/or
- Legitimate interests in operating, securing, and improving the service (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
4. Data Retention
We retain data only as long as necessary for the purposes described above. Technical logs and analytics data are retained for a limited period to help diagnose problems and analyse usage trends. LocalStorage data used for free-plan limits remains on your device until cleared or reset.
5. Cookies & Local Storage
We do not use tracking cookies by default.
We use localStorage (in your browser) to store non-personal usage data such as your daily caption quota for the free plan. This data stays on your device and is not transmitted or shared.
If we add analytics or marketing tools in the future, we will obtain any required consent and update this policy.
6. Third-Party Services
We may use third-party service providers (e.g., hosting, email providers, analytics). If used, we will ensure they comply with applicable law and protect your data. We do not share localStorage-only data with third parties.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to:
- Access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you.
- Request restriction of processing or object to certain processing.
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
- Request data portability where applicable.
If you are an EU/EEA resident, you also have the rights set out in the GDPR. If you are a California resident, you may have rights under the CCPA/CPRA. Rights and procedures vary by jurisdiction; contact us to exercise your rights.
8. Global Privacy Compliance
Repostsy is available worldwide. While we aim to comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), we also endeavour to meet the requirements of other applicable privacy laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), Canada’s PIPEDA, Australia’s Privacy Act, and Brazil’s LGPD. Your rights may vary by jurisdiction; we will provide comparable protections where required.
9. Security
We use reasonable organizational and technical measures to protect data. However, no service can be guaranteed 100% secure. If you believe your data has been compromised, contact us immediately.
10. Children
Our service is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will take steps to remove it.
11. Changes to this Policy
